One of the best ways to get around the Fall River, Bristol, and Somerset areas is from behind the wheel of a brand-new crossover. These vehicles are remarkably versatile with plenty of interior space and maneuverability.

While there are plenty of options on the market, two standouts tend to draw the most attention. The 2019 Subaru Forester and the Nissan Rogue are both among the best of their class, but only one can be best-suited to be your next ride. Find out which one is right for you in our comprehensive Subaru Forester vs. Nissan Rogue comparison.

Performance

Under the hoods of these vehicles, you'll find a remarkable engine in each. In fact, the two engines look incredibly similar because the base models both feature a 2.5L 4-cylinder engine. The only difference is that the new Subaru Forester tends to get more out of it with 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque compared to the Rogue's standard 170 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque.

If you favor greater control when behind the wheel, both of these vehicles can deliver. The only difference is that the new Forester can provide that level of control standard as all-wheel drive is included at every trim level. With the Rogue, all-wheel drive is available, but it's not the default setting. As if that wasn't enough, the Forester also features a surprisingly generous towing capacity of 1,500 pounds while the Rogue can manage a still impressive 1,102-pound capacity.1

Interior

Inside these vehicles, you'll find plenty of room to be comfortable, no matter where you're sitting. For drivers and passengers on the taller side, however, the Forester interior may be the better option. Drivers of the Forester can enjoy 43.3 inches of legroom while Rogue drivers get just 43 inches of legroom. Meanwhile, rear passengers have 39.4 inches of legroom in the Forester and only 37.9 inches of legroom in the Rogue.

In terms of cargo space, these vehicles are virtually neck and neck. With all of the seats up, the Rogue can offer generous cargo space to make up for its lacking rear legroom, but the new Forester offers its own fair share as well. The real question is where the maximum cargo capacity stands. With the Rogue, it stands at 70 cubic feet. With the Forester, it stands at 70.9 cubic feet giving it a slight edge that makes all the difference in a tight spot.

Technology

Some of the best features of the Forester and Rogue are their technology. Both, for example, have extensive driver-assistance technologies. You'll find safety features like forward collision warning systems and automatic braking on both along with roll-mitigating technologies to help ensure all four wheels stay on the ground at all times.

The new Forester includes one special feature, however, that gives it a leg-up. The Subaru DriverFocusâ„¢ Distraction Mitigation System monitors you while you drive looking for signs of fatigue. If fatigue is detected or a distraction that causes you to look away from the road for three seconds or more, this system will issue a warning. Should the warning be ignored, and the behavior continues, the Forester can slow to a stop on its own.
