A roomy SUV, like the new Subaru Ascent, is designed to have space for the whole family and keep everyone safe. So, which one of its trims is right for you?

Stateline Subaru finds out for families in Somerset, Bristol, and Fall River with this review of the 2019 Subaru Ascent trim levels.

2019 Subaru Ascent

The base trim of the new Ascent runs on a 2.4L 4-cylinder SUBARU BOXER® engine that gets up to 260 horsepower and can tow up to 2,000 pounds. This works with a Lineartronic® CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission).

The interior features cloth seats and a second-row bench seat, which gives you room for up to eight people. Up front, there's a 6.5-inch screen in your dashboard. This is the home of the SUBARU STARLINK™ multimedia system.

You'll be able to control your favorite smartphone apps from here with Apple CarPlay™, Android Auto™, or Aha™ smartphone integration. It also comes with standard SiriusXM™ Satellite Radio, All Access Radio, Magellan® navigation, and Bluetooth® compatibility.

The screen also serves as a safety feature. It can show you what the Rear-Vision Camera sees behind you. This SUV gives you peace of mind with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive and all the features in the EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology system.

2019 Subaru Ascent Premium

The 2019 Subaru Ascent Premium runs on the same powertrain as the base trim but upgrades your technology. The infotainment screen gets bumped up to eight inches and now has a standard 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.

There are more driver-assistance features, too. You'll be more aware when changing lanes or backing up with Blind-Spot Detection and the Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

Even your mirrors offer more visibility in this trim. The power-heated side mirrors can melt away frost on those cold mornings. Plus, the cabin can warm up in the winter with heated front seats.

This trim even has a more versatile interior with 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat and stain-resistant cloth upholstery to keep your seats clean.

2019 Subaru Ascent Limited

The new Subaru Ascent adds more luxury with leather seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a heated steering wheel. Also, the power-adjustable driver's seat gets upgraded to 10-way settings.

This trim also gives you more visibility with LED fog lights and LED Steering Responsive Headlights that can help you see around curves while you're turning.

Passengers in all three rows will be able to charge their phones and tablets, too. There are up to eight USB ports throughout the cabin.

2019 Subaru Ascent Touring

The top trim level is the 2019 Subaru Ascent Touring. It replaces the second-row bench seat with a pair of captain's chairs. This gives you room for seven people but ups the comfort level for passengers in the middle seats.

Some other ways this trim helps you stay comfortable include ventilated front seats and heated second-row seats.

To take you on the best route to your destination, there's standard TomTom® navigation. Along the way, you can stay safe with a 180-Degree Front-View Camera and brighten up the drive with a Power Panoramic Moonroof.
