Performance

The new Legacy is equipped with a 2.5-liter flat-four that produces 175 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. A 3.6-liter flat-6 is also available, which produces 256 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque. Both engines mate to a continuously variable transmission and come standard with all-wheel drive.

Both engines have the power and capability to handle daily driving, but the uprated flat-6 packs a bit more punch that may appeal to some drivers. The steering is linear and precise, and the Legacy handles more like a sports car than a larger sedan. The all-wheel drive is superior as well, providing the necessary surefootedness in inclement weather and poor traction conditions.

Interior

Like other Subaru models, the Legacy prioritizes space and quality in the cabin. Even in the rear seat, the Legacy offers plenty of space for adult passengers.

The new Legacy has 60/40-split folding rear seats, which fold down to expand the available cargo space. Otherwise, the wide trunk accommodates 15 cubic feet of cargo, which is above average for this segment, and it maximizes the usable space. Small cubbies and bins are found throughout the cabin, as well, so that passengers can store personal belongings.

Technology

The Legacy is well-equipped at all trim levels, packed with plenty of desirable technology at its base level. All models come standard with a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system, complete with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone integration, giving you access to all your phone's features and capabilities through a sharp, intuitive system. Harman Kardon® speakers, navigation, and an upgraded 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system are also available for more entertainment and convenience.

Advanced safety tech is where the new Legacy shines, however. In addition to its inherent safety, Subaru EyeSight® provides extra assurance with features like: Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Active Lane Control-these are all included with the base model, alongside stability control, airbags, and a rearview camera.

These features give you added awareness of the areas around your vehicle to help you avoid a collision. Blind Spot Monitors, Automatic High Beams, and Rear Cross-Traffic Detection are standard or available for other trims, providing a full range of crash protection and mitigation capabilities.
