As your family gears up for the next road trip, you need a new SUV that
has capable performance and lots of space. Most importantly, however,
you need one that gets great fuel economy. Our team here at Stateline
Subaru wants to help you find that SUV. That's why we've put together
this guide to the Subaru Forester MPG.
Keep on reading to see if it'll be able to save you time at the pump around Somerset, Bristol, and Fall River.
Subaru Forester Fuel Economy
When
you hit the road in this SUV, you'll get an EPA-estimated 26 MPG city
and 33 MPG highway. It also comes equipped with a 16.6-gallon fuel tank.
You may be wondering how the new Subaru Forester manages this MPG rating. It all starts with what's under the hood. 2.5L SUBARU BOXER® engine comes standard with the Auto Stop-Start System. It will automatically shut down the engine to reduce idle time and therefore reduce fuel consumption. Best of all, it'll start right back up again when you're ready to get moving.
This engine is also paired up with the Lineartronic® CVT, which is specifically engineered to seamlessly harness the power of the SUBARU BOXER® engine. This gives you a more comfortable and fuel-efficient drive.
Dynamic Driving
Along
with a great MPG rating, the Subaru Forester will also give you the
capability that you expect from an SUV. When the weather gets dicey or
the trail gets rough, the standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive will take
over. It'll ensure that you keep a firm grip on the road and increase
your traction.

There's also the available X-MODE®, which optimizes the all-wheel drive system to maximize your control in slippery conditions. To add to that, the available dual-function X-MODE® includes settings for snow, dirt, and mud.
If you really want to fine-tune the driving performance of the new Forester, the standard SI-DRIVE regulates the engine control unit and the transmission while increasing the throttle response. Together, this system gives you performance that's made for the racetrack. On Sport trim levels, there's also Sport Sharp, which enhances the performance of the Forester even more.
What Can it Handle?
You'll
need to get all of your gear to your destination, too. That's why,
along with great fuel economy, the Subaru Forester is designed to take
on all your cargo with ease.

In the rear cargo area, there's 35.4 cubic feet of storage space. If you're really packing up for the long haul, however, you could lower the standard 60/40-split flat-folding rear seatbacks. That'll allow you to utilize the maximum 76.1 cubic feet of cargo space. If you happen to be bringing your kayak or your skis, you can simply fasten them to the available roof rails.
When it comes to bringing along your family and friends, they'll get to relax in the soft touch of the available leather-trimmed seats. Plus, you and your passenger will get to choose the ideal temperature with the available Dual-zone automatic climate control system. Finally, with standard Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration, you'll be able to stay connected on the go, too!
