In your adventures through Somerset, Bristol, and Fall River, you've probably seen both the Subaru Crosstrek and the Toyota RAV4. As you prepare to find your next SUV, you may be wondering which of the two would be a better fit for you.

To help you find the answer, our team here at Stateline Subaru has created this comparison. It's the Subaru Crosstrek vs. Toyota RAV4. Let's see who comes out on top!

Outdoor Adventures

If you're looking for a new SUV that's capable of handling both on- and off-road paths with ease, then you'll need to go for the Subaru Crosstrek. It comes standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, which provides balanced power to improve handling and traction. The RAV4 has a similar all-wheel drive system, but it's only an optional feature.

The Crosstrek also has available X-MODE®. It works in sync with the all-wheel drive to optimize grip on slippery and uneven surfaces. So, whether it's a snowy winter road, a tight curve, or a rough mountain path, the Subaru Crosstrek has the versatility to get you where you're going.

When the road to your favorite campsite gets rough, you'll need an SUV that has enough ground clearance to make it over those obstacles. The 2019 Crosstrek has the upper hand there, too. Its standard ground clearance is 8.7 inches, whereas the standard clearance of the Toyota RAV4 is only 8.4 inches.

Interior Space and Connectivity

Both SUVs can seat up to five passengers, so you'll be able to bring your friends along for the journey. Everyone will have more room in the Subaru Crosstrek interior, however. It offers 100.9 cubic feet of passenger volume, compared to only 98.9 cubic feet in the RAV4.

You'll also be able to stretch out a little bit more in the Crosstrek. Up front, there's 39.8 inches of headroom and 43.1 inches of legroom. In the Toyota RAV4, on the other hand, there's only 37.7 inches of headroom and 41.0 inches of legroom up front.

These SUVs also offer you plenty of connective features. The Crosstrek comes with the SUBARU STARLINK™ Multimedia System and the RAV4 offers Entune™ 3.0. Both come with an available 8-inch touchscreen display and the convenience of Apply CarPlay™ compatibility.

Advanced Safety Features

Both models include safety suites that include a wide array of advanced safety features. The Toyota RAV4 is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.0. This system includes features like a Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, and Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control.

The Subaru Crosstrek, on the other hand, is outfitted with EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology, which comes with a variety of similar features. They include:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Pre-Collision Braking
  • Lane Departure and Sway Warning
  • Lane Keep Assist

These safety suites can be coupled with Blind-Spot Detection and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, which is available for both SUVs. You'll have more peace of mind knowing that your SUV is looking out for you.

We Have a Winner!

The Subaru Crosstrek fought hard, and in the end, it came out on top. It has the capability to take on any adventure in Somerset, Bristol, and Fall River. Plus, it has the space you need to bring along all your lucky friends.
