Coming off a mild refresh from the previous model year, the 2019 Subaru WRX packs a bunch of new technology and safety features into its already desirable package. New trim-level options, upgraded features, and a few other exciting additions are just a glimpse of what's in store for the upcoming model year.

Drivers in Somerset, Bristol, and Fall River can find out what to expect from the new Subaru WRX with our comprehensive model review.

Performance and Fuel Economy

The WRX comes standard with a 2.0L turbocharged flat-four that produces 268 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Power is transferred to all four wheels through a 6-speed manual or a Continuously Variable Transmission, making the most of this impressive engine and giving the WRX an EPA-rated 21/27 MPG city/highway with the manual and 18/24 MPG city/highway with the CVT.

A 2.5L turbo 4-cylinder is also available, which produces 310 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. This engine option mates exclusively to a 6-speed manual transmission and rates an EPA-estimated 17/22 MPG city/highway. Though both engines are quick and powerful, this uprated option provides rapid acceleration that shaves seconds off of the 0-60 runtime.

Subaru WRX Interior

Regardless of model, the WRX features a high-end interior with plenty of comfort and space. The seats are heavily padded and contoured for long-distance comfort, and automatic climate control is included. Additional convenience and comfort upgrades are available, such as heated seats, leather-trimmed upholstery, and a moonroof. The Series Gray edition adds Recaro 8-way power-adjustable front seats, an Ultrasuede-wrapped steering wheel with red contrast stitching, and performance and appearance upgrades.

The wide trunk of the WRX accommodates 12 cubic feet of cargo space, with 60/40-split folding rear seats that offer additional cargo space and versatility. There are plenty of small storage compartments within the cabin as well.

New WRX Technology

One of the biggest changes for the new model year is the upgraded infotainment system. A larger 6.5-inch touchscreen is included, which features Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ smartphone integration as a standard feature. This compatibility ensures that you have access to all your device's media, such as music and audiobooks, that stream through the vehicle's onboard system. Some WRX models offer a 7-inch touchscreen with voice commands that enable you to send and receive calls or text messages, input directions into your maps feature, or quickly sort through your media without taking your eyes off the road or your hands off the wheel. Satellite navigation is also available.

The EyeSight® suite of advanced safety features is included, which offers a heads-up display to project information directly into your sight line, pre-collision brake assist and throttle management, lane departure warning and prevention, and lead vehicle start alert. These features help you monitor the other vehicles around yours and prevent a crash by applying the brakes when an impending collision is detected.
